Course Objectives / Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course students will:
- Understand the goals set for the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the context of European education policy.
- Realize the contribution of the role of the education executive in the challenge of the effective use of ICT in education and in its administrative work.
- Realize the transformative impact of ICT on modern educational reality.
- Get to know the possibilities of the internet and get acquainted with different types of educational software.
- Understand the pedagogical principles that govern educational software design.
- Get to know the possibilities of electronic platforms for finding collaborative solutions and in communication between members of the school community or wider school communities (wiki, moodle).
- Recognize the contribution of ICT to the promotion of a more extroverted character in the school unit at both local and national and European level (eg participation in European programs)
- Recognize the benefits and risks of using ICT and act as a model for the whole school community for their proper and safe use.

- Digital libraries, databases and organized sources of information

- Presentation by the Network Center on Remote Access (VPN), settings for e-mail, accounts, etc.
- Modeling and simulation applications
- Administrative and organizational difficulties in the introduction of ICT in Greece
- European education policy & ICT
- Visit professional learning community websites
- Distance education and alternative forms of education beyond the conventional learning environment
- Modern learning platforms (eg moodle).
Course description
The management of educational organizations is essentially a continuous process of balancing conflicting goals, pursuing goals, adapting immediately to highly volatile environments, often making complex decisions, managing human resources and producing high quality educational, pedagogical and social work.
Given that ICT has transformed every human organization at all levels of its operation, it is immediately apparent that it has significantly affected the organization and operation of educational organizations.
This course is a significant effort to explore the relationship between ICT and the management of educational organizations as well as educational systems in general in order to develop in future educators the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities in order to safely utilize the truly inexhaustible potential of ICT both in their administrative and pedagogical work.
